So, my bad, but I don’t catch that the horizontal piece of material on the back of the shorts is to hold a workout towel. I was scratching my head looking at it until I came back and looked at the item description and pictures more closely. I suppose if you carry a workout towel (lightweight?) around the gym, this could come in handy. I don’t - maybe I should. My t-shirt seems to cover most of it so shouldn’t be an issue. The shorts are light weight. I normally am size small in shorts but sized up to Medium and am glad I did. I think the small would have been too tight/short for my taste. The drawstrings and pockets seem solid - the zipper pocket in the back is very small. Perhaps for a key or something similar sized. I checked and a credit card or drivers license will fit in the back zip up pocket. Overall, I think these shorts are pretty decent for the gym. I just have to figure out if I will ever use that towel loop on the back.
